The results of the NREG study were released in conjunction with the Mortgage Bankers Association of America conference held this month in San Francisco, CA.

The government is keen to ensure that adequate funds are provided for the previously announced flagship schemes such as NREGS, Bharat Nirman and midday meal, right to education and the rural health mission.

A DISTRICT field officer in Andhra Pradesh's Nizamabad has been suspended for allegedly issuing job cards to three impostors who claimed payments under the NREGS. The field officer, Shobha, reportedly failed to conduct the door- to- door survey to identify the genuine employees.
